The recent Melissa McCarthy Photoshop controversy has once again highlighted how a powerful piece of software is often misused to produce incredibly ill-judged results.
Of course Photoshop disasters aren’t anything new. (There’s a whole website dedicated to them in fact). While some like McCarthy’s are comical – Kimberly Williamson Butler’s New Orleans / Disneyland one from 2006 always brings a chuckle – others are downright worrying. A Conservative Group in Colorado was caught earlier this year ‘removing minorities’ on a promotional flyer. And unfortunately the mainstream media isn’t much better when it comes to Photoshop and minorities.
